8 beef hot dogs

8 slices thin-cut bacon

8 hot dog buns

Optional toppings: pickled jalapeño slices, chopped red onion, ketchup, mustard


Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and place an oven-safe rack on top.

2. Lightly score each hot dog with shallow, diagonal cuts about 1 inch apart to prevent splitting during cooking.

3. Wrap one slice of bacon around each hot dog in a spiral fashion, slightly overlapping the edges. Secure the ends of the bacon with toothpicks if necessary.

4. Place the bacon-wrapped hot dogs on the prepared rack. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, turning them halfway through, until the bacon is crispy and the hot dogs are heated through.

5. While the hot dogs are baking, toast the buns in the oven for the last 5 minutes of cooking time, or until they are warmed and slightly crispy.

6. Remove the toothpicks from the hot dogs. Place each bacon-wrapped hot dog into a toasted bun and top with your choice of pickled jalapeño slices, chopped red onion, ketchup, or mustard.

Notes

Remove toothpicks before serving.

For crispier bacon, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.

No rack? Just flip the hot dogs halfway on a foil-lined tray.

You can grill them instead of baking.

Try brioche or pretzel buns for extra flavor.
